Howdy Brave Being,
Welcome dear readers to this auspicious day in our time on Earth. Today’s date is a palindrome, where the numbers are the same forwards and backwards. When I look at the numbers 12/2/21, I see a parallel. Probably because of the 1’s on either side of it—it literally looks like parallel lines to me.
It is also the day I am opening up pre-orders for my YA sci-fi thriller DEAD DREAMS THE LUCID CHRONICLES #1, where parallel worlds exist, dreams are drugs, and doppelgängers dare to change the world.
Intrigued? I hope so. DEAD DREAMS is being brought to life by artist Dailen Ogden, letterer Gabriela Downie, editor Heather Ayres, designer Sasha E. Head, flatter Drew Wills, and myself.
I’ve been writing about this Freaky Friday meets Orphan Black story here in this newsletter, interviewing the creators, and teasing it for about six months. DEAD DREAMS also recently debuted in Slice of Life’s Kickstarter as a digital only comic, and I thought it about time to release it into the world more formally. So I’m opening up pre-orders for it with a projected release date of dun dun dun 2/22/22.
Yes, it’s another palindrome. I can’t help it!
So what are you waiting for?! Pre-order your digital or print copy of DEAD DREAMS: THE LUCID CHRONICLES #1 at the button below.
DEAD DREAMS: The LUCID CHRONICLES trailer was compiled and designed by comic book writer, podcaster, video production artist, and all-around Renaissance man, Milton Lawson (Thompson Heller: Detective Interstellar). The trailer’s music is called Celestarium 5 by Jody Jenkins via audionetwork.
What I’m Working On
A pitch for From the Static, Band of Bards’ horror anthology.
Making healthier food (Thanksgiving left me stuffed).
Closing the year with a bang by releasing DEAD DREAMS!
Tips and Tricks of the Trade
I honestly have been so busy lately helping with a few Kickstarters, managing my day job, this newsletter, and planning this launch that I haven’t had time to think about tips and tricks to my trades writing and editing as it relates to the comic book industry. But what I can say is quickly is to put yourself out there, ask for help, and if y’all need any resources, I cannot tell you how much Creator Resource has helped me. One of their founders, Stephanie Cooke, opened up the Creator Resource Discord, and I’d recommend checking that out.
Things I’m digging
The one thing that I really loved recently was this mind-blowing and relaxing animation by Tolm with a single by Estonian musician Janek Murd?
Merry Musings
Every day birds are singing, no matter the weather, so remember that there’s always song out there, even if you can’t always hear it.
Thanks for reading!
Mercy buckets,
